Kwame Nkrumah
Kwame Nkrumah was the Prime Minister and first President of Ghana. He led the people of Ghana (the gold coast) to independence from British colonial rule in 1957. He was a firm believer and ardent advocate of the ‘African personality’, a concept which he felt was a must after centuries of slavery and colonization. During which Africans were made to feel inferior in their own eyes. Kwame Nkrumah was an influential figure the 20th century Pan-Africanism and also the leader in the founding of the organization of African unity.
